Worx Cordless Lawn Mower, 40V 17" 2-in-1 Grass Mower for 1/4 Acre, WG745

The WORX WG745 40V 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower is designed for homeowners who want to manage small to midsize lawns up to a quarter acre without handling gas or tethering to extension cords. Powered by two 20V 4.0Ah batteries that combine to provide 40V of total power, this 17-inch mower delivers quiet operation and zero emissions. Its compact cutting width offers a balanced footprint that covers ground effectively while remaining simple to guide around yard features.

Performance relies on a brushless motor 2.0 paired with Intellicut technology. The updated motor delivers 40 percent higher cutting power, 10 percent longer run time, and 10 times longer life compared to first-generation brushless motors. The Intellicut feature automatically adjusts the blade speed depending on grass conditions. It increases speed when tackling dense grass and lowers it in lighter patches to conserve power. An on-board battery display lets you view power status directly on the machine during operation.

Maneuverability and flexibility are key elements of the design. Weighing 40 pounds fully assembled, the lightweight frame makes pushing and turning across the lawn straightforward. A slim deck design allows for cut-to-edge performance, trimming close alongside fences, flower beds, and lawn edges. A single lever height adjustment system offers 6 cutting heights for different grass requirements. Users can choose between mulching clippings to nourish the lawn or attaching the rear bag for clip collection.

While the mower provides efficient coverage for lawns up to a quarter acre, buyers should note its capacity limits. Lawns larger than a quarter acre will require additional battery packs or pauses for recharging. Because power is drawn from two separate 20V batteries, both packs must be charged for operation. Storage is simplified by fully collapsible handles that support both vertical and horizontal placement.

Verdict: The WORX WG745 is a strong option for homeowners with yards up to a quarter acre who want an easy-to-maneuver cordless mower with low maintenance. Its intelligent motor control, slim edge design, and flexible storage options make lawn care straightforward.

A great fit if you:

• Maintain a small to midsize property up to a quarter acre and want to cut it in one charge.
• Prefer a lightweight 40-pound mower that is easy to steer around obstacles and garden borders.
• Want the option to alternate between grass mulching and rear-bag discharge collection.
• Need a compact machine with handles that collapse completely for horizontal or vertical storage.

Consider something else if you:

• Own a lawn significantly larger than a quarter acre and require longer continuous mowing time.
• Require a self-propelled system or wider cutting deck for expansive terrain.

Confirm on the listing:

• Check whether the package includes the dual-port charger or individual charging units for the two 20V 4.0Ah batteries.
• Verify what accessories come included in the box, specifically the rear grass bag and mulching plug.
• Measure your storage space to confirm the machine's 17-inch width and collapsed height fit your garage or shed area.

How to compare your options: Focus on deck size, total battery voltage, and rated yard capacity when evaluating cordless mowers. Look for convenience features such as single-lever height adjustments and cut-to-edge deck designs that reduce extra edging work. If storage room is limited, check whether handles collapse for space-saving vertical storage before finalizing your selection.

Read any included instruction manuals prior to assembling and operating your mower for the first time. Fully charge both 20V 4.0Ah batteries before mowing so the 40V system functions with equal battery levels across both packs.

Check the on-board battery indicator display before you start cutting to keep track of your remaining power. Set the single lever to your preferred height out of the 6 available positions based on your grass conditions. If mulching, ensure the rear discharge bag is removed so clippings recycle into the lawn. After mowing, clear off grass debris from around the slim deck, collapse the handles, and store the unit vertically or horizontally in a dry place.
