Detailed Review
The EGO POWER+ 16-inch cordless chainsaw provides gas-free cutting power for property owners tackling fallen limbs, firewood, and yard maintenance. Running on a 56V battery platform, it eliminates the need to mix gas and oil while tackling jobs traditionally handled by small gas saws.
A high-efficiency brushless motor delivers power equivalent to a 40cc gas engine, driving the chain at speeds up to 20 meters per second. The 16-inch bar carries a 3/8-inch pitch, 0.043-inch gauge chain with 56 drive links, designed to cut efficiently through hardwood, softwood, and thick branches. On a single charge with the included 4.0Ah battery, it delivers up to 130 cuts on 4x4 lumber.
Maintenance and handling are streamlined through thoughtful hardware choices. A tool-free tensioning dial lets you adjust chain tightness with a quick twist, avoiding the hassle of wrenches or taking assemblies apart. The low-profile dial design also enables cuts flush to the ground, while an IPX4 weather-resistance rating adds durability when working in damp outdoor conditions.
As a cordless tool, performance depends on battery capacity, meaning large clearing projects may require extra batteries or recharging downtime. The 16-inch bar is also tailored for general yard chores rather than felling massive mature trees.
Verdict: This cordless saw is an excellent choice for homeowners and property managers who want 40cc-level cutting power without gas maintenance. It provides reliable cutting speed, straightforward chain adjustments, and cross-compatibility with the full EGO 56V battery ecosystem.
