INTEX Rechargeable Handheld Pool Vacuum Cleaner for Pools & Spas

Cleaning small water features does not need to involve dragging out heavy suction hoses, and this cordless pool vacuum cleaner provides a direct, battery-powered way to lift settled grit and leaves. Built for PureSpas and above-ground basins up to 18 feet across, the Intex 28620EP pairs a built-in Ni-MH rechargeable battery with a hand held form factor to simplify routine touch-ups. Because it operates completely cordless, you can quickly step up to the water edge, power on, and skim settled particles from the floor without dealing with pump connections.

Physical reach is handled by a 94-inch telescoping aluminum shaft that adjusts to suit the depth and distance of your setup. The package includes two interchangeable brush heads, letting you swap attachments depending on whether you are working flat floor sections or curved corners. If your basin requires a longer reach than the standard pole provides, an included pole adapter lets you mount the vacuum head onto other INTEX telescoping poles, making it adaptable to existing maintenance gear you might already own.

Power management and water safety are integrated directly into the housing. The built-in rechargeable Ni-MH battery provides up to 50 minutes of run time on a single cycle, refueled via an included USB charging cable. To prevent dry running when lifted above the surface, an automatic sensor shuts the motor off whenever the vacuum is not fully submerged in water. Operation is controlled through an IPX8 waterproof switch, ensuring reliable protection against water intrusion while the unit is completely submerged during cleaning.

The trade-offs stem directly from its compact, battery-driven build. With a run time capped at 50 minutes and an intended capacity for pools up to 18 feet in diameter, this unit is engineered for spot maintenance and small-to-midsize basins rather than massive residential setups. Once the internal Ni-MH cell runs down, cleaning must pause while it recharges via USB, making it less practical for users who want continuous, non-stop power across oversized installations.

Verdict: For owners of PureSpas or backyard setups under 18 feet across, the Intex 28620EP provides an efficient, hose-free way to collect settled debris. If your setup exceeds 18 feet or requires hours of continuous bottom vacuuming, a dedicated corded or pump-driven system remains a better choice.

A great fit if you:

• Own an Intex PureSpa or an above-ground pool measuring up to 18 feet in diameter and need quick spot cleaning.
• Want a lightweight, cordless handheld tool to pick up settled floor dirt without connecting extra hoses to your filter pump.
• Value safety features like an IPX8 waterproof switch and an automatic shutoff that stops the motor when lifted out of water.
• Already own other INTEX telescoping poles and want an interchangeable vacuum head that works with your existing hardware.

Consider something else if you:

• Maintain a large in-ground pool broader than 18 feet in diameter that requires a heavy-duty commercial or pump-attached system.
• Need continuous multi-hour runtime that exceeds the 50-minute capacity of a built-in rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack.

Confirm on the listing:

• Check the diameter and depth of your pool to ensure it falls within the recommended 18-foot limit.
• Verify what USB power adapter or wall plug specifications are required to use the included USB charging cable.
• Confirm that your existing extension hardware matches the included pole adapter if you plan to use separate INTEX poles.
• Check whether the package includes replacement filter components or specific debris mesh bags inside the head.

How to compare your options: Consider whether a cordless battery-powered unit or a hose-fed vacuum suits your yard layout. While hose systems draw continuous power from your main pool pump, this cordless model offers 50 minutes of self-contained runtime, a 94-inch aluminum pole, and two brush heads without restricting your movement. For spas and small setups under 18 feet, prioritizing quick cordless deployment usually beats assembling long vacuum lines.

Keep these practical habits in mind to maximize performance from your cordless vacuum cleaner:

• Charge the internal Ni-MH battery fully using the included USB cable prior to your first cleaning session.
• Select between the two interchangeable brush heads based on whether you are scrubbing flat floor spaces or tight spa corners.
• Ensure the vacuum head remains fully submerged during use so the automatic water sensor allows the motor to stay active.
• If 94 inches is not quite long enough for full floor coverage, attach the included adapter to pair the unit with longer INTEX poles.
• Rinse away trapped debris from the brushes and clean the unit thoroughly after each use before storing it away in a dry spot.
