Detailed Review
The ProtoArc XK04 Foldable Compact Keyboard gives mobile users a portable physical typing solution for phones and tablets. Weighing 7.8 ounces, the two-fold design closes down small for daily carry and unfolds to a 10.76 by 4.07-inch typing surface. It is tailored for people who need to take notes, write emails, or manage messaging on iPhones, iPads, and Android tablets without lugging around a full-sized setup.
Multi-device workflow is straightforward thanks to Bluetooth 5.1, which offers a 33-foot wireless range. You can pair up to three separate devices simultaneously and switch between them using dedicated shortcut keys, removing the need to re-pair devices or manage connection cables. Power management relies on an included USB-C cable for recharging, and an auto-sleep feature extends standby time up to 150 days between charges.
Portability is reinforced by the integrated PU leather cover, which protects the key mechanisms from scratches when carried inside backpacks or briefcases. The compact layout uses 0.55-inch keycaps to keep the overall footprint small, making it practical for restricted workspaces such as cafe tables or airplane tray tables.
Because this keyboard is optimized for compact travel, the smaller 0.55-inch keys may feel cramped for users accustomed to standard desktop key sizes. Pairing also requires turning on the physical power switch first. Additionally, the provided specifications focus on mobile platforms like iOS and Android, so it is primarily intended for mobile devices rather than large desktop environments.
Verdict: The ProtoArc XK04 is a practical choice for mobile writers and travelers needing a lightweight typing accessory for their phone or tablet. Its multi-device pairing, durable PU leather casing, and long standby battery make it a reliable travel companion.
