Detailed Reviews
The Ring Battery Doorbell with Retinal 2K video is a solid security solution for homeowners and renters looking for an easy-to-install smart doorbell. The 2K video quality is sharp and detailed, while the 6x zoom feature allows you to identify visitors and monitor packages with impressive clarity. The battery-powered design is a major advantage, eliminating complicated wiring and making it accessible to anyone, regardless of their home's existing infrastructure. Real-time alerts keep you informed of activity, and the two-way talk feature lets you communicate with visitors instantly from your phone or compatible Alexa device.
However, the device's true potential is unlocked through a Ring Protect subscription, which means there are additional costs to enjoy features like video history and AI-powered alerts. Additionally, the absence of a USB-C cable in the box is a minor inconvenience. This doorbell is best suited for those seeking a user-friendly, feature-rich video doorbell with excellent picture quality and smart home integration capabilities.
Verdict: The Ring Battery Doorbell is a well-rounded security device that delivers on video quality, ease of installation, and smart home connectivity, making it a reliable choice for most users. While subscription costs and missing accessories prevent it from being perfect, it remains a strong option in the battery-powered doorbell market at its price point.
