Detailed Review
The PROHEAR 016 Shooting Ear Protection Earmuffs provide reliable, passive hearing defense for range shooters, yard workers, and woodworkers. Coming as a convenient two-pack, this set delivers certified sound dampening built into a durable ABS plastic housing. It is designed to block harsh noise spikes without adding unnecessary bulk to your gear setup.
Noise reduction is handled by sound-dampening composite housing, dense internal foam, and soft foam ear cushions. Together, they achieve an NRR 26dB (SNR 31dB) rating, meeting both ANSI S3.19-1974 and CE EN 352-1 safety standards. The low-profile earcups feature specialized cut-outs that allow gunstocks to rest naturally against your cheek without bumping the earmuff out of position.
For extended wear, the set features a generously padded headband that adjusts across a range of head sizes and shapes. The wide ear cups distribute pressure evenly, while the exterior is finished with a durable rubber paint coating that resists wear. When you are done, the muffs fold down into a compact profile to fit inside range bags, ammo boxes, or the included carrying bag.
Because these are traditional passive muffs, they rely entirely on physical isolation rather than electronic amplification. This means they will dampen low-level ambient voices alongside loud sounds. Shooters looking for built-in microphones to hear range commands clearly between shots will need to keep this passive design in mind.
Verdict: The PROHEAR 016 set is an excellent value for anyone needing dependable, certified hearing protection for the gun range, yard maintenance, or workshop. Its slim profile, adjustable fit, and folding design make it an easy choice for shooters and DIYers alike.
