Howard Leight by Honeywell R-01526, Impact Sport Earmuffs, Olive Drab Green.

The Howard Leight by Honeywell R-01526 Impact Sport Earmuffs are electronic hearing protection designed for shooters who need situational awareness without sacrificing ear safety. Featuring a classic olive drab green finish, they offer a 22 Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) while keeping communication clear on the range.

Built-in directional microphones actively amplify ambient voices and range commands up to 82 dB for natural listening. The moment ambient sound reaches that 82 dB threshold, the amplification automatically cuts off to shield your ears from loud noise. An integrated power and volume knob lets you easily control sound levels on the fly.

The physical design focuses on practical shooting needs and ease of transport. Low-profile earcups provide clearance for firearm stocks, while an adjustable headband ensures a secure fit. When you are done packing up, the compact folding design makes it simple to stow the earmuffs away in your range bag. You also get an AUX input and an included 3.5 mm connection cord to plug in scanners or MP3 players.

While practical, there are trade-offs to keep in mind. The NRR is rated at 22, which provides moderate reduction compared to heavier earmuffs. Power comes from two AAA batteries rather than a rechargeable cell, though the 4-hour automatic shut-off helps stretch overall runtime up to roughly 350 hours.

Verdict: The Howard Leight Impact Sport is a smart choice for target shooters and range visitors who want clear ambient communication combined with active sound protection. It delivers reliable amplification and essential ear safety in a slim, packable design.
