NETGEAR Nighthawk Modem Router Combo (CAX30S) DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem and WiFi 6 Router - AX2700 6.0 Gbps - Compatible with Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, and More - Gigabit Wireless Internet - NETGEAR Armor

NETGEAR CAX30S Modem Router is a cable modem and router combo built for shoppers who want one device to handle their cable internet connection and home WiFi network. Its strongest fit is for people who want WiFi 6 connectivity, cable plan support, and wired networking options without using separate modem and router equipment.

The CAX30S uses DOCSIS 3.1 modem technology to support cable internet plans that can reach gigabit class download speeds, depending on the plan and ISP network. For households with demanding online activities, the combination of modem and router functions helps create a single network hub. It works with Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, and other supported cable providers, with ISP activation required after setup.

Wireless connections come through dual band AX2700 WiFi 6, with coverage listed for up to 2,000 square feet and capacity for 25 or more connected devices. The Nighthawk app adds a simpler way to manage the network, including guided setup, speed checks, device pausing, and guest network setup from a phone. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports give shoppers a way to connect devices that benefit from a wired connection.

The trade offs come from the design choices. This unit is made for US cable internet service only, so it is not intended for providers such as Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, DirecTV, DISH, or bundled voice plans. Coverage also depends on the home size, layout, and building materials, so the listed coverage area may not match every space.

Verdict: The NETGEAR CAX30S is a strong choice for cable internet users who want a combined modem and WiFi 6 router with app controls and wired ports. Shoppers with unsupported internet service or those needing a different connection type should look for another option.

A great fit if you:

• Use a supported cable internet provider and want one device managing your home connection.
• Need WiFi for many connected devices and value app based network controls.
• Want both wireless access and wired Ethernet connections for home devices.

Consider something else if you:

• Use a non cable internet service and need a different type of network equipment.
• Need a solution designed for bundled voice plans or unsupported providers.

Confirm on the listing:

• Check whether your internet provider and plan are supported before choosing this cable modem router combo.
• Confirm that your service is cable internet and not one of the listed unsupported connection types.
• Measure your space and consider whether the listed WiFi coverage matches your home layout.
• Check whether your planned setup needs any additional equipment or accessories.

How to compare your options: Compare modem and router combinations by provider compatibility, wireless standard, wired ports, and management features. The CAX30S stands out for combining DOCSIS 3.1, WiFi 6, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, and Nighthawk app controls in one device.

• Use the Nighthawk app for guided setup and to manage network features from a compatible phone.
• Run speed checks through the app to keep track of your network connection.
• Use the guest network option when you want a separate connection for visitors.
• Connect suitable devices through the Ethernet ports when you prefer a wired connection.
