Greenworks 40V 12 in Cordless String Trimmer, 2.0 Ah Battery and Charger

The Greenworks 40V 12 in Cordless String Trimmer is a battery-powered yard care tool designed to keep lawns, sidewalks, and landscaping neat and tidy. For homeowners looking to maintain tidy property borders without dealing with gas mixing or restrictive extension cords, this complete kit provides both the trimmer and the required 40V power setup in one package. It handles routine grass trimming and clearing light weeds around delicate garden beds and hardscapes.

Cutting performance centers on a 12-inch cutting path equipped with a 0.065-inch dual line. This dual-line setup delivers clean, consistent cuts through grass while managing overgrown edges. Operating the trimmer is straightforward thanks to the variable-speed control trigger, which allows you to adjust power output on the fly. You can lower the output for delicate edging around fence posts or squeeze for full power when tackling thicker patches of grass and weeds.

To help maintain momentum while working, the trimmer features an auto feed line system. This mechanism advances the 0.065-inch cutting line automatically during operation, eliminating the traditional need to bump the trimmer head against the ground. Paired with a lightweight, well-balanced ergonomic design, the physical strain on your arms and hands is reduced during standard yard maintenance routines.

While the feature set covers everyday lawn care needs, there are a few practical considerations to note. The 0.065-inch line gauge and 12-inch cutting path are specifically suited for grass and light weeds, meaning heavy brush or thick wooded growth falls outside its intended range. Additionally, the seller listing does not detail specific assembly steps, overall physical weight in pounds, or expected battery charging times, so buyers should review the included manual upon arrival for those operational details.

Verdict: This cordless trimmer kit is a practical choice for homeowners who want clean lawn edges and convenient line feeding without gas maintenance. With an included 40V 2.0 Ah battery, charger, and 3-year limited warranty coverage, it provides a complete cutting system for light to moderate yard trimming.

A great fit if you:

• Need to regularly trim grass and light weeds around lawns, sidewalks, fence lines, and landscaping.
• Prefer a cordless system that includes both the 40V 2.0 Ah battery and matching charger right in the box.
• Want an auto feed line mechanism that advances 0.065 inch dual line without needing to bump the head against the ground.
• Value a lightweight, ergonomic design that minimizes user fatigue during routine yard maintenance.

Consider something else if you:

• Require a heavy-duty cutting tool designed to slice through thick brush, dense saplings, or heavy woody vegetation.
• Prefer a wider cutting swath than 12 inches to clear expansive open property in fewer passes.

Confirm on the listing:

• Check whether your property size requires additional battery capacity beyond the included 40V 2.0 Ah pack.
• Confirm whether replacement spools of 0.065-inch dual line are readily available for future maintenance.
• Verify what initial assembly steps or safety guard installations are required when unboxing the trimmer.

How to compare your options: When evaluating cordless string trimmers, focus on cutting width, line feed style, trigger control, and battery bundle inclusion. A 12-inch cutting path with a 0.065-inch dual line offers a balanced footprint for tight borders around sidewalks and gardens, while auto feed technology eliminates physical bumping. If variable speed triggers and 40V battery compatibility line up with your property needs, this model provides essential core features with 3-year limited warranty backing.

When unboxing your trimmer, begin by charging the 40V 2.0 Ah battery completely using the supplied charger prior to your first yard trim. Review any assembly instructions included in the packaging to ensure guards and components are properly positioned before operation.

During routine use, utilize the variable-speed trigger to conserve battery life on light grass edging, reserving higher power settings for dense weeds along fence lines. Let the auto feed system advance the 0.065-inch line naturally without striking the trimmer head on hard pavement or turf.

After finishing your yard work, clean away grass clippings and debris from the 12-inch cutting head and motor housing. Store the tool, battery, and charger in a clean, dry location according to manufacturer guidelines, and keep your purchase details handy for 3-year limited warranty coverage.
