NETGEAR Orbi 970 Series (2026 Release) WiFi 7 Mesh System, 3 Pack

The NETGEAR Orbi 970 Series is a high-capacity WiFi 7 mesh network designed to eliminate connection dead spots across expansive properties. Comprising one main router and two satellites, this three-pack provides whole-home network coverage for up to 10,000 square feet and handles up to 200 connected devices simultaneously. It serves busy households running simultaneous high-bandwidth demands like 8K streaming, VR, online gaming, and video conferencing.

Performance is driven by next-generation WiFi 7 speeds reaching up to 27 Gbps, which is 2.4 times faster than WiFi 6. The system uses patented Quad-Band technology with an Enhanced Dedicated Backhaul, reserving a dedicated frequency lane between the router and satellites so traffic does not slow down as more devices join. It also connects smoothly with older legacy equipment, maintaining backward compatibility with WiFi 6 and WiFi 5 devices while working directly with cable or fiber internet service plans up to 10 Gbps.

Beyond wireless speeds, the system provides substantial wired connectivity with a 10 Gig internet port alongside 10 Gig and 2.5 Gig LAN ports across the router and satellite nodes. This allows direct, high-speed physical links for hardware like network-attached storage drives and gaming PCs. Initial configuration is managed step-by-step through the Orbi mobile application, which also lets you oversee connected hardware and guest networks remotely.

There are a few operational considerations to keep in mind. This hardware is made for use in the United States only. While built-in router protections and automatic firmware updates are enabled out of the box, the comprehensive NETGEAR Armor security suite requires a separate paid subscription after its included 30-day trial ends. Real-world speeds and wireless range will also vary depending on your home layout, wall materials, satellite placement, and service tier.

Verdict: The Orbi 970 Series is an exceptional fit for large estates, multi-story residences, and tech-heavy households seeking ultra-fast WiFi 7 coverage and multi-gigabit wired options. If you need expansive coverage for up to 200 devices and have an ultra-fast internet plan, this mesh pack delivers top-tier network capability.
