Detailed Review
The VIHSIPR Hanging Platform Bird Feeder is a compact outdoor feeding tray designed to attract small birds to your backyard, garden, or patio. Measuring 9 inches across, it gives finches, chickadees, sparrows, and similar small species a dedicated spot to feed without taking up excessive outdoor space.
Daily maintenance is straightforward thanks to the open tray construction. Unlike enclosed tube feeders that require disassembly to clean, this model allows you to pour in fresh seed, discard leftovers, and rinse the surface quickly. Its stainless steel mesh bottom features perforations that let rainwater drain through rapidly, helping your bird seed stay dry and fresh between visits.
For setup and durability, the feeder relies on metal construction with a weather-ready finish. It comes with attached metal hanging chains and an S-hook, allowing you to hang it directly from shepherd hooks, tree limbs, or other outdoor mounting points without needing extra hardware.
The main trade-off comes down to the feeder's size and open format. At 9 inches, the tray accommodates smaller birds rather than larger species. The completely open design also means the seed is fully exposed to open air and wind, though the built-in drainage holes prevent standing water from pooling inside.
Verdict: This feeder is a solid, practical choice for birdwatchers seeking a low-maintenance, compact platform for sparrows, finches, and chickadees. It delivers dependable outdoor hardware, quick drainage, and effortless cleaning in a simple hanging package.
