Detailed Review
The VIHSIPR Hanging Platform Bird Feeder is a simple, open-tray feeder designed to attract multiple backyard birds at once. Featuring an 11-inch by 11-inch square metal tray, it offers a wide and stable landing area for species such as cardinals, finches, chickadees, and sparrows to feed together without crowding.
Built with durability in mind, the unit features a stainless steel mesh tray suspended by sturdy metal hanging chains. The perforated bottom provides continuous drainage, allowing rainwater to pass right through so your birdseed stays dry and fresh. Because there are no enclosed tubes, hoppers, or intricate pieces to disassemble, topping off feed or spraying down the tray takes only moments.
An open platform design means the seed remains completely exposed to outdoor elements like direct wind or blowing rain, as there is no built-in roof. Additionally, the listing does not mention any built-in squirrel baffles or seed capacity limits, so maintenance frequency depends on how quickly local birds empty the open tray.
Verdict: The VIHSIPR Platform Feeder is an excellent choice for birdwatchers who want an easy-to-clean feeding station that accommodates several birds simultaneously. It sets up in seconds on any suitable outdoor hook or branch.
