Detailed Review
The Gonex 31-inch Camping Cot provides an elevated sleeping platform for adult campers, outdoor travelers, and tent users who need extra width. Built with a generous 31.5-inch wide surface, it offers plenty of room for side sleepers to shift positions without feeling restricted. It packs into an included travel bag, making it a functional sleep solution for car camping, beach outings, or fishing trips.
A standout feature is the dual-height design. Using the included 12 extension legs, you can set the cot to a High Mode of 15.8 inches, which keeps you well off muddy or cold ground and doubles as a sitting bench. Removing the extensions drops the frame to a Low Mode of 5.9 inches, making it a better fit inside low-clearance tents.
Assembly relies on a 5th-generation lever-locking system with three support rods and two crossbars. This mechanism is designed to lock into place in four steps, taking approximately 60 seconds once you are familiar with the setup. The cot also includes practical gear storage, featuring side pockets, a tactical hanging system, a large mesh pocket, and a CloudNest pillow pocket made with Feather-Touch Feeling Fabric that holds the included pillow.
While the cot is versatile, there are trade-offs to keep in mind. At 9.3 pounds, it is heavier than dedicated ultra-minimalist trail gear, and managing the 12 loose leg extensions requires some organization during pack-up. Additionally, the manufacturer does not list a specific maximum weight capacity in the product data.
Verdict: The Gonex adjustable camping cot is an excellent choice for vehicle campers and outdoor enthusiasts who want a wide sleeping bed with flexible height options. Its quick lever setup and integrated storage make it a practical upgrade for comfortable tent nights.
