Detailed Review
The Douk Audio T9 is a vacuum tube stereo preamplifier designed to bridge turntables, digital players, and headphones in one compact desktop unit. It solves the common problem of routing vinyl setups alongside standard audio sources by combining a dedicated phono stage with line level inputs, making it well suited for analog enthusiasts and desktop audio listeners.
For vinyl playback, the T9 includes a dedicated phono input switchable between moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, converting low-level signals to line level output. It also accepts line-in signals through standard RCA jacks from phones, tablets, PCs, or MP3 players. The tube section utilizes two 6A2 tubes to warm the sound profile, paired with two 6E2 magic eye tubes that provide dynamic visual signal monitoring. Backlighting can be adjusted between cold green and warm orange tones.
Personal listening is supported via an independent 3.5mm headphone amplifier capable of powering headphones rated from 16 to 300 ohms. Dedicated knobs on the front panel allow direct adjustment of treble and bass frequencies to match your gear. Tube enthusiasts can also customize their setup thanks to pluggable sockets that accept alternative tube types like 6K4, EF93, 6BA6, and W727.
Because the unit relies on analog RCA and phono inputs, it lacks onboard digital connections such as USB or optical. Headphone users with 1/4-inch plugs will also need their own adapter for the 3.5mm jack. In addition, the device requires a dedicated DC12V power adapter to run, which comes included in the box.
Verdict: The Douk Audio T9 is a versatile choice for vinyl listeners who want flexible MM/MC phono conversion, headphone listening, and tube customization in one metal-shielded desktop package.
