Veise RZ-A Electronic Keypad Deadbolt Door Lock, Satin Nickel

The Veise RZ-A Electronic Keypad Deadbolt replaces standard exterior hardware with convenient passcode entry, solving the everyday hassle of misplaced house keys. It is well-suited for busy families, rental hosts, or anyone needing to grant temporary access to visitors without handing out physical spares.

Daily access revolves around customizable entry options. The unit stores up to 20 permanent user codes alongside one-time codes for guests, and it includes two physical backup keys. For security, an anti-peep feature lets you type random numbers before or after your actual code, keeping nearby onlookers from memorizing it. If an incorrect passcode is entered 10 times in a row, the keypad automatically locks down for 3 minutes to prevent unauthorized guessing.

Day-to-day locking is handled through customizable automation. You can set the deadbolt to engage on its own within 10 to 99 seconds after closing, or lock it instantly from outside by holding any key for 2 seconds. The zinc alloy cylinder meets BHMA/ANSI Grade 3 standards and has undergone over 200,000 test cycles. It also handles extreme outdoor environments, carrying an IP54 weatherproof rating and an operational temperature range of -35°F to 160°F. For specialized needs, Vacation Mode disables user codes and sounds an alarm if the inside thumb turn moves, while Silent Mode mutes button beeps without silencing critical alerts.

In terms of trade-offs, the lock requires four AA batteries that are not included in the package, so you will need to supply your own before setting it up. While the keypad gives backlit warnings before power runs out, keeping fresh batteries on hand is necessary to maintain electronic operation. Additionally, the installation fits standard doors between 1-3/8 inches and 2 inches thick, so non-standard door thicknesses will not be compatible.

Verdict: The Veise RZ-A offers a dependable, highly configurable keyless entry solution for standard residential doors. It is an excellent choice for homeowners and hosts who want straightforward code management, flexible auto-locking, and sturdy weather-resistant construction without complicated setup.

A great fit if you:

• Frequently forget to lock the deadbolt when leaving the house or carrying items inside
• Need an exterior lock that withstands extreme hot, cold, or wet weather conditions
• Prefer a simple DIY installation using just a screwdriver on a standard U.S. door

Consider something else if you:

• Have a non-standard door that is thinner than 1-3/8 inches or thicker than 2 inches
• Want a lock that comes out of the box with all required batteries included

What happens if the batteries run out?
The backlit keypad provides an alert before power depletes. If the batteries do run completely empty, you can use one of the two included physical spare keys to unlock the door.

What tools are required for installation?
You only need a standard screwdriver to install the lock. All other mounting hardware, an installation manual, and a video tutorial are included.

How does Vacation Mode work?
Vacation Mode deactivates all stored passcodes except for the master code. If someone manually unlocks the door from the inside using the thumb turn, an alarm will sound.

Does the keypad work on both left-handed and right-handed doors?
Yes, the deadbolt is designed to work on both left- and right-handed door configurations.
