Detailed Review
The Apple Barrel Essentials Acrylic Paint Set delivers 12 individual 2-fluid-ounce bottles of multi-surface craft paint designed for general crafting. It provides a balanced color selection, featuring shades like Primary Blue, Candy Apple, Lemon, Clover Fields, and Outrageous Orange, alongside foundational neutrals such as White, Black, Timeless Gray, and Chocolate Sprinkle. The set serves crafters who need a dependable, ready-to-use assortment for everyday DIY tasks without purchasing individual tubes separately.
This water-based formula dries to a satin finish and works across a wide variety of materials. You can apply it directly to porous and non-porous surfaces including canvas, wood, plaster, paper mache, terra cotta, concrete, rigid plastic, fabric, and glass. A practical advantage for functional craft projects is that the formula becomes top-shelf dishwasher safe once fully cured, adding durability to decorated glassware or ceramics. When working, cleanup remains simple, washing away with standard soap and water while still wet.
A notable limitation involves volume. With 2 fluid ounces per bottle, this kit is tailored for small to medium craft pieces rather than large-scale surface coverage. In addition, the listing specifies that dishwasher durability applies only after curing, but it does not specify the exact cure time needed before washing. Crafters seeking a high-gloss or ultra-matte look will also need to note that this specific formula dries strictly to a satin sheen.
Verdict: This set is an excellent choice for crafters, hobbyists, and families looking for an adaptable, easy-to-clean paint kit that covers multiple craft surfaces. It offers a solid core of colors for varied DIY projects in practical 2-ounce sizes.
