Detailed Review
The Gskyer 70mm astronomical refracting telescope is a portable starter setup designed for beginners and kids exploring lunar and celestial viewing. Built around a 400mm focal length (f/5.7) and a 70mm objective aperture, it gathers enough light to view stars and the moon. The optics use fully coated glass with high transmission coatings to optimize image clarity.
For viewing flexibility, the kit includes two replaceable eyepieces along with a 3x Barlow lens that triples the magnification power of each eyepiece. Finding distant celestial objects is made easier with the attached 5x24 finder scope, which features an integrated mounting bracket and internal crosshair lines to help align your view before looking through the main optic.
The package also supports basic astrophotography using your mobile device. It comes with a smartphone adapter and a wireless camera remote, allowing you to view lunar scenes directly on your phone screen and take pictures without shaking the setup. Everything mounts to an adjustable aluminum alloy tripod, and both the telescope and tripod pack into an included carry bag for storage and travel.
Because this model uses an alt-azimuth (AZ) mount, tracking moving sky objects is entirely manual. Additionally, the manufacturer does not specify the exact focal length sizes for the two included eyepieces, so you will need to test both in the field to see which view matches your preference.
Verdict: The Gskyer 70mm refractor is an accessible, complete kit for children and beginners who want to explore the night sky. With its included phone mount, wireless shutter, and compact carry case, it provides everything needed to start observing the moon right out of the box.
