Detailed Review
The Presto 06857 16-Inch Electric Foldaway Skillet is a multi-use countertop cooker built for cooks who need extra cooking capacity without giving up precious cabinet space. Its large pan handles roasting, frying, grilling, stewing, baking, and making casseroles, making it a handy solution for family meals and group gatherings.
Its foldaway design solves the common problem of storing bulky electric pans. The handles fold down to detach the pan from the base, allowing the base to nest neatly inside the pan when put away. For cooking, the Control Master heat control automatically maintains steady temperatures, while the tempered glass cover with a stay-cool handle lets you check on food without losing heat.
The skillet features a ceramic, PFAS-free nonstick surface on both the inside and outside, designed for stick-free cooking and no-scour washing. Combined with the removable base, cleaning up after large batches is straightforward, and the pan can double as a buffet server when entertaining guests.
As for trade-offs, the wide 16-inch design requires sufficient counter space during use, and the product listing does not provide exact wattage specifications or specific temperature ranges for the heat controller.
Verdict: The Presto Foldaway Skillet is an excellent pick for home cooks who want a spacious 16-inch cooking and serving appliance that packs down small between uses.
