Detailed Reviews

The Rancilio Rocky is a solid mid-range espresso grinder that delivers reliable performance for home baristas seeking consistent results. The 50mm commercial-grade burrs produce uniform particle sizes essential for proper espresso extraction, while the direct drive motor operates impressively quiet despite its 166-watt power output. The ability to grind directly into a porta filter streamlines your espresso preparation routine, making the machine practical for daily use without unnecessary steps or cleanup.

This grinder is best suited for dedicated espresso enthusiasts who prioritize grind consistency and don't mind the compact hopper size. However, be prepared to thoroughly clean the unit before your first use due to factory testing residue, and expect to refill the hopper frequently if you prepare multiple shots in succession.

Verdict: The Rancilio Rocky represents solid value for espresso lovers willing to work with its limitations, offering commercial-grade burr quality at an accessible price point. While the small hopper and factory residue are minor drawbacks, the consistent grind performance and quiet operation make it a dependable choice for serious home espresso preparation.
