CRAFTSMAN V20 String Trimmer and Lawn Edger Kit with 4Ah Battery and Charger, 13 in. Cordless Weed Wacker with Up to 63 Minutes Runtime, Lightweight (CMCST901M1)

The CRAFTSMAN V20 String Trimmer and Lawn Edger Kit (model CMCST901M1) is a cordless lawn care tool built for homeowners who need to manage grass boundaries and clean lawn edges without managing gas or power cords. It bundles the CMCST901 string trimmer, a 4.0Ah V20 battery, a dedicated charger, and a prewound spool. For anyone looking to maintain residential grass borders in an all-in-one package, it provides the key essentials right out of the box.

At the center of the trimmer is a 13-inch cutting swath powered by a motor that supplies 52 percent more power to slice through thick patches of grass. To adapt to different yard conditions, the tool features two speed settings. You can dial down the speed to conserve battery life or ramp it up when cutting through denser growth. The bundled CMCB204 4.0Ah battery provides up to 63 minutes of runtime, allowing you to tackle sizable cutting jobs before heading back to the charger.

Yard maintenance also requires neat border work, which this tool handles through its Turn-To-Edge capability. Rather than requiring you to carry a separate dedicated edger, the tool shifts between standard string trimming and vertical edging. Operator comfort is addressed with an adjustable handle, which can be repositioned along the shaft to match your physical height and working posture. The cutting mechanism feeds 0.065-inch line from its included spool.

While the kit provides strong versatility, buyers should consider its design specifications. The trimmer utilizes 0.065-inch line, which is geared toward standard lawn care and grass rather than heavy brush. In addition, the advertised runtime of up to 63 minutes reflects specific operational settings, meaning heavier trimming on the high-speed mode will draw down the 4.0Ah battery more quickly. The listing also notes the tool is lightweight but does not publish an exact pound rating.

Verdict: The CRAFTSMAN CMCST901M1 is an ideal cordless setup for homeowners who want a versatile, battery-powered trimmer that quickly shifts into an edger. Its two-speed motor, customizable handle, and generous 4.0Ah battery give everyday yard owners plenty of flexibility for routine lawn upkeep.

How to compare your options: When shopping for a cordless string trimmer, pay close attention to cutting swath diameter, battery amp-hour capacity, and conversion features. This kit pairs a wide 13-inch cutting path with a 4.0Ah battery and Turn-To-Edge functionality. If you frequently switch between open lawn clearing and sidewalk edging, having dual modes and two speed options makes comparison easy against single-purpose or single-speed alternatives.

To achieve the best results from your cordless trimmer, follow these practical operating and care habits:

• Select the lower speed setting for routine lawn trimming to stretch battery life toward the maximum 63-minute mark, reserving the higher speed for tough, overgrown patches.
• Engage the Turn-To-Edge function along walkways and garden beds to maintain clean edges without straining your wrists or working at awkward angles.
• Recharge the CMCB204 4.0Ah battery using the included charger after major sessions so the tool is ready for your next yard maintenance round.
• Keep the spool area free of accumulated grass clippings, dirt, and moisture by wiping down the head after finishing your work.
• Store the battery pack and trimmer in a clean, dry, protected indoor area away from wet weather when not in use.
