Detailed Reviews

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM5A is a solid mid-range gaming monitor that excels in delivering smooth, responsive gameplay through its 240Hz refresh rate and ultra-fast 0.3ms response time. The combination of FreeSync Premium and G-Sync compatibility ensures that whether you're using NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards, you'll experience virtually tear-free gaming without the need for additional purchases. The Fast IPS panel technology strikes a good balance between response time and color accuracy, making it suitable for both competitive shooters and visually demanding titles.

However, the 27-inch 1080p resolution presents a notable limitation, as pixel density suffers at this screen size, potentially resulting in a slightly softer image compared to higher resolution alternatives. The monitor is best suited for competitive gamers prioritizing frame rates over visual fidelity, or those with mid-range systems that struggle to push higher resolutions at high refresh rates. The inclusion of ELMB SYNC technology and AI-powered gaming features adds value, though their real-world impact may vary depending on individual gaming preferences.

Verdict: The ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM5A is a capable gaming monitor that delivers excellent performance for competitive gaming with its 240Hz refresh rate and responsive panel, but the 1080p resolution at 27 inches holds it back from being a premium choice. It represents a reasonable option for budget-conscious gamers seeking high refresh rate gameplay, though those willing to spend more might find better value in 1440p alternatives.
