Detailed Review
The NETGEAR Nighthawk RS500 is a tri-band WiFi 7 standalone router built for households needing fast wireless bandwidth and wide area coverage. It is designed to handle demanding network traffic such as real-time gaming, 4K and 8K streaming, UHD video conferencing, and AR or VR applications.
Equipped with WiFi 7 technology, the router delivers speeds up to 12Gbps, which is 2.4 times faster than WiFi 6. It also includes a 2.5 Gig internet port, allowing you to connect multi-gig cable or fiber internet service directly to the unit to maximize throughput for all your devices.
The physical design features a sleek body with a smaller footprint and high-performance antennas. This internal setup provides wireless coverage for spaces up to 3,000 square feet without occupying excessive shelf or desk space.
One important limitation is that this unit is strictly a router and does not contain a built-in cable modem. You will need a separate standalone modem with coax inputs to establish internet service with your cable or fiber provider.
Verdict: The NETGEAR Nighthawk RS500 is a reliable choice for users with high-speed internet plans who want multi-gigabit wired input and broad coverage. It is ideal if you already own a dedicated modem and need fast WiFi 7 performance across a medium-to-large home.
