Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 Wireless Color All-in-One Supertank Printer

The EcoTank Photo ET-8500 is a wireless all-in-one supertank printer designed for photographers, crafters, and creative households looking to produce high-detail color prints without the recurring cost of standard cartridges. By replacing small cartridges with refillable tanks, it directly addresses the expense of frequent ink replacements while delivering dedicated photographic output.

At the heart of the machine is a Claria ET Premium 6-color ink system that reproduces nuanced tones, deep clarity, and vibrant colors. It supports edge-to-edge printing for borderless photos, promotional flyers, and invitations. Beyond standard paper, the feed accommodates specialty media such as cardstock, envelopes, and direct printing onto compatible CDs and DVDs, making it versatile for personalized crafts or professional presentations.

Everyday operation centers around a built-in 4.3-inch touchscreen, allowing you to manage print tasks directly from the unit. Integrated Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity provide the flexibility to send documents and images wirelessly from your devices without needing a direct cable connection.

As a trade-off, this model focuses heavily on photo output and features a cartridge-free tank system, which generally requires a larger initial purchase commitment than entry-level inkjet units. In addition, the manufacturer specifications provided do not list exact print speeds, sheet tray capacity, or external dimensions, so shoppers with specific space constraints cannot verify those measurements ahead of time.

Verdict: The EcoTank Photo ET-8500 is an excellent choice for photo enthusiasts and home creators who want versatile media handling and rich 6-color results without the high ongoing cost of ink cartridges.

A great fit if you:

• Print high volumes of color photos and want to avoid buying traditional ink cartridges.
• Need to produce borderless invitations, flyers, or custom prints on cardstock and envelopes.
• Want the ability to print custom labels directly onto CDs and DVDs.
• Prefer managing printing wirelessly via Wi-Fi or directly from a built-in touchscreen.

Consider something else if you:

• Only print black-and-white text documents and do not need a six-color photo ink system.
• Need specific verified dimensions or fast document print speed ratings before buying.
