Detailed Review
The MG8702 combines a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem and an AC3200 wireless router into a single enclosure. It is designed for households on high-speed cable internet plans that want to stop paying monthly modem rental fees to their internet service provider. By housing both networking essentials in one unit, it cuts down on cable clutter while delivering fast wireless connectivity across your home.
Under the hood, the DOCSIS 3.1 modem delivers the speed needed for fast cable tiers. The integrated router features built-in Power Boost, Range Boost, and AnyBeam beamforming technology, which focus wireless signals directly toward connected devices for dependable, fast Wi-Fi performance.
Network administration is handled through a companion mobile application. From the app, users can complete initial setup, monitor active data usage, run speed tests, manage guest network access, set parental controls, and receive security alerts. The unit also comes backed by two years of free technical support.
Because this is an integrated two-in-one combo, upgrading the modem or router separately in the future is not an option. Additionally, the product details do not list physical dimensions or the exact number of wired Ethernet ports on the back of the device.
Verdict: The MG8702 is an ideal all-in-one purchase for cable internet subscribers who want fast DOCSIS 3.1 speeds and robust AC3200 Wi-Fi without paying recurring equipment rental fees.
Who Should Buy It
A great fit if you:

Consider something else if you:

- Prefer separate standalone modems and routers so you can upgrade each piece independently
