Detailed Review
The iFixit Mako Driver Kit is a dedicated 64-piece precision bit set designed for repairing consumer electronics, mobile devices, and small household gear. It provides the specific bits required to open modern hardware, making it a reliable foundation for technicians, DIY hobbyists, and anyone starting a repair business.
At the center of the set is a 4 mm aluminum screwdriver handle built with a knurled grip, a magnetic socket to secure bits, and a free-spinning swivel top for controlled turning. For hard-to-reach hardware inside tight enclosures, the kit includes a flexible extension that bends into recessed areas. The bit selection covers standard Torx fasteners as well as specialized security profiles such as Pentalobe and triwing screws used in smartphones, game consoles, and laptops.
Storage and organization are handled by an engineered foam insert inside a magnetic closure case. The magnetic lid stays firmly in place during transport and doubles as a built-in sorting tray to hold loose components and fasteners while you work.
Because this kit focuses entirely on 4 mm precision applications, it is not built for heavy-duty household fasteners or high-torque mechanical work. Additionally, the provided details do not list the specific metal alloy used for the bits or specify the individual sizes for all 64 pieces.
Verdict: The iFixit Mako Driver Kit is an excellent choice for anyone needing a comprehensive precision tool set for electronics like phones, laptops, and gaming consoles. Its secure magnetic case, versatile bit selection, and dedicated driver handle make it a dependable repair setup.
