Detailed Review
The Mechanix Wear Original Coyote Tactical Gloves provide versatile hand protection designed for mechanics, tactical operators, and home improvement enthusiasts. Built around a 0.8mm synthetic leather palm, these gloves protect working hands while maintaining enough tactile control for handling tools and equipment.
A key practical feature is full capacitive touchscreen capability across smartphones and tablets, allowing you to check devices on patrol or in the workshop without exposing bare skin. The back of the hand uses TrekDry material, which conforms to your hand shape and uses evaporative cooling to manage heat and reduce blister-causing friction during repetitive work.
For extended durability, Mechanix Wear reinforces high-wear areas on the thumb and index finger. The wrist features a Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR) closure paired with an adjustable hook-and-loop strap, creating a snug fit that keeps dirt, grit, and loose debris from getting inside. Integrated tactical carrier loops make it simple to clip the pair to packs or gear belts when not in use.
In terms of care and trade-offs, this specific model comes in a fixed size Large and requires air drying after machine washing to preserve the synthetic materials. The listing does not specify cold-weather insulation or liquid waterproofing, focusing instead on breathability and standard mechanical wear.
Verdict: These gloves are a solid choice for anyone needing breathable, touchscreen-friendly protection for patrol duties, automotive repair, or general DIY projects. If you need a reliable work glove with reinforced wear points and a secure wrist seal, they are easy to recommend.
