Nespresso Inissia – What is it?

If you have made the decision to try out for your home the Nespresso capsule system, perhaps there is no better choice than the Inissia Espresso machine. It’s amazingly small and light, with a weight of just 2.4kg. Inissia is an entry-level machine but does not lack functionality at all. You should consider upgrading to the bundle pack of Inissia, which means it includes a milk frother, the standalone Aeroccino-3.

The Aeroccino-3 extends the Inissia’s limited options, espresso or lungo, to add milky beverages such as latte or cappuccino. Nespresso capsules range is rich enough and also adds limited editions throughout the year. You may find plenty of compatible pods from 3rd-party companies, which gives an even more extended range of choice for coffee.

You don’t need to worry about where to start since the Inissia Nespresso machine includes a starter pack of 16 pods. You may find Inissia in 4 different colors, but we reviewed the De’Longhi silver color.

Nespresso Inissia – Style and Characteristics

While the appearance of the Inissia isn’t that impressive, one feature that can’t be overlooked is its compact footprint. It’s relatively smaller than Espresso machines at this price level. It is a huge advantage for small kitchen owners since this machine is only 12cm wide.

The good thing is that its tiny dimensions haven’t affected the size of its water reservoir significantly. It’s not the biggest at 700ml, but taking into consideration the size of the device, it takes more water than you might assume. The reservoir has a cover, which is a nice touch to prevent spillages between your tap and machine.

This also indicates that it can utilize the full height at the back of the Inissia, rather than fitting in and below. As well as a perforated detachable drip tray, there is an internal container for used capsules, so several shots can be extracted before it requires clearing. The length of the power cable is regular at 33cm, but more flexible when it comes to where it’s located.

Nespresso Inissia – Easy to use?

Getting to use the Inissia Nespresso machine is straightforward, and you can be assisted by the instructions guide – instead of text controls, everything from extracting Espresso to descaling is presented as diagrams and symbols with a key. The tricky part is that it shows the machine harder to handle than it really is.

Once you’re familiar with the basics, brewing beverages with easy. There are only two switches to handle – Espresso and Lungo, which also work as on and off, and it’s able to extract delicious Espresso in just 25 seconds after you switch it on. Entering a Nespresso pod requires turning the front bar backward, which opens up a hole for it to drop into.

Getting this into the hole needs a little bit of training, as sometimes it wasn’t in the proper position, and the bar wouldn’t lock properly. After you achieve this, it’s a case of selecting an Espresso shot or a Lungo beverage – the volume of water can be adjusted, and Nespresso Inissia will stop when it is finished. Turning the bar to the back again delivers the used capsule to the used-pods container of the machine.

The drip tray is removable, so it can be taken out to make more space for travel mugs. This point is worth identifying – sometimes, while testing, coffee drops from the drip tray were spilled as it was cleared. The machine’s useful energy-saving function will turn it off if you neglect it.

The added milk frother Aeroccino3 is the same as easy to handle and quicker to warm when compared to other models, it requires just 1 minute. Internal tagging points to the fill levels for getting hot and cold frothed milk, and it’s served via a single button. While the body of the machine can’t be dipped in water for washing, the lid and whisk both disconnect to be cleaned. After washing, the whisk magnetically snaps back into position.

Nespresso Inissia – What is the quality of coffee?

The Nespresso Inissia may offer limited beverage options, but the coffee it gives is the same high-quality as that from the other Nespresso devices. Inissia utilizes the same powerful 19-bar pressure for its creamy shots of Espresso, and in combination with hot foamy milk from the Aeroccino3, beverages can be adjusted to your taste.

What’s Included in a Nespresso Inissia

I was amazed at just how elegant and stylish the Nespresso Inissia package was… So, opening the box, I found the following items:

  • Nespresso Inissia machine
  • A welcome pack containing 16 Nespresso Grands Crus capsules
  • Instruction booklet
  • Information folder

If you’re new to the Nespresso world, then the welcome pack of capsules will be handy to help you decide what your coffee preferences are.

Nespresso Inissia vs. Nespresso Pixie

The Nespresso Inissia and Nespresso Pixie are two remarkably similar coffee makers. Both are utilizing Nespresso’s OriginalLine capsules. In other words, they’re compatible with OriginalLine pods, and not with the Vertuoline Nespresso system.

Both capsule systems brew single shots of espresso or lungo beverages. Vertuoline is an entirely different technology featured by Nespresso, which is based on barcode scanning. Read Also >> Nespresso Vertuoline vs. Originalline Let’s see a few other similar features.

Simple One-Touch Programmable Setting

Even though they come with only 2 pre-set volumes, these espresso makers have an excellent one-touch custom size selector. To program the Nespresso to brew a cup of espresso of your preferred size, just copy the following simple steps:

  • Put into the slot a capsule
  • Press and hold each brew button until your wanted volume has been extracted
  • The Nespresso device will program the button you used to brew that volume every time (until you modify it).

Brews Espresso & Lungo Beverages

Both Nespresso machines are pre-set to brew 1.35 ounces of espresso and 3.70 ounces of lungo beverages. They don’t make 8+ ounces of coffee beverages like Nespresso VertuoLine coffee makers.

Compact Design

Both of the Nespresso machines are considerably more compact and sturdy than equivalent Keurig models. They’re even smaller within the whole Nespresso range. Note that the Nespresso Pixie and Inissia don’t have identical dimensions — this is almost the most essential difference, but related to all other single-serve, capsule-based coffee makers, these two machines are really small.

The Differences

As mentioned, Nespresso Inissia and Pixie are quite similar in characteristics, performance, and capsule extraction technology. There are only minor differences, most of which are in the design:

  • Exterior: Inissia has a plastic body, Pixie has an aluminum body
  • Dimensions: Pixie is a little smaller
  • Weight: Pixie is a little heavier
  • Watts: Inissia is 1,200 vs. Pixie, which is 1,160
  • Placement of the Power Button: On top for Pixies and on the side for the Inissia
  • Empty Reservoir Indicator: Inissia doesn’t have. Pixie comes with a red blinking indicator

Nespresso Inissia Final Verdict

The Inissia might not make an award for the stylish design, yet it is small, compact, and easy to carry, clean, and use.  I consider it to have a high place in the best Nespresso machine list.
